“Heritage is not just the old, ruined and haunted forts, villas and lakes but our language, literature, art, folk songs, music, forest and even an united family is a vital part of our heritage,” said, famous historian Professor Raj Shekhar Vyas during a discussion session on the occasion of World Heritage Day.

“Heritage is not just the old, ruined and haunted forts, villas and lakes but our language, literature, art, folk songs, music, forest and even an united family is a vital part of our heritage,” said, famous historian Professor Raj Shekhar Vyas during a discussion session on the occasion of World Heritage Day.

The program was organized by Janardan Rai Nagar Rajasthan Vidyapeeth at the seminar hall of The Institute of Rajasthan Studies, where many educationists and historians of the city took part.

Dr. Lalit Pandey, director of the institute informed that government and college has to work actively in order to preserve the heritage and spread its awareness among the local mass.

A report on the archeological projects undertook by the college was presented by Dr. Kulshekhar Vyas. He informed about the discovery of ancient art work, culture and other important things in the valleys of Som Gomti.

While leading the program, historian Prof. K.S Gupta said, “No country is comparable to India in terms of culture and heritage and the heritage of Mewar is well known globally, which is also the main reason of number of tourists visiting the city every year.”

Prof. Rajshekhar Vyas said, “The heritage of India has its own special identity.”

Dr. Lalit Pandey said, “Joint families also come in the category of heritage, as today the system of joint family is declining, corruption is increasing and any interruption or changes in the heritage can lead to dangerous consequence. Hence the preservation of heritage is necessary.”

Dr. Neeta Kothari, Bharat Acharya and Dr Mahesh Ameta also shared their views.
