Several programs by Forest Department on World Wetlands Day

Udaipur is famous for its lakes and since years, the city’s wet lands have attracted several migratory birds. But lately, pollution has deprived the wetlands of its many resources causing danger to the ecology. Every year 2nd February is celebrated as the wet land day but looking at the condition of our lakes, forest department has decided to organize several programs during the month of January starting from today to spread awareness among the people about the wet lands.

But lately, pollution has deprived the wetlands of its many resources causing danger to the ecology. Every year 2nd February is celebrated as the wet land day but looking at the condition of our lakes, forest department has decided to organize several programs during the month of January starting from today to spread awareness among the people about the wet lands.

In the sequence, bird watching programs will be organized from today onwards. Similarly, tomorrow evening from 4 pm to 5 pm, Sanjay Gandhi Park, Rani Road and on 5th of January at Swaroop Sagar and Kalka Mata road will be visited in groups. There is no fee for participating in the aforementioned programs.

Dr N C Jain, Chief Forest Conservator, Udaipur, informed that Wild Life Department and WWF will organize a free of cost two days nature walk for the school students studying in 9th and higher standards on January 12th and 13th. For the free nature walk, students will be selected from an ‘On-the-Spot competition’ at Wolkem Park, Swaroop Sagar which will start at 4 pm.
