Forest Department of Udaipur organized several programs to mark the “Ozone Layer Day” today. The events included a rally by school students, exhibition on environment conversation etc.

Forest Department of Udaipur organized several programs to mark the “Ozone Layer Day” today. The events included a rally by school students, exhibition on environment conversation etc.

Around 250 students of Guru Govind Singh Senior Secondary School and Residency School marched in the city to spread awareness regarding environment conversation. The rally was flagged off by K.K Garg, chief forest conservator.

An exhibition was also held at the auditorium of Information Center, Mohta Park where students learnt the effects of ozone layer on earth and its environment.

A seminar was organized by Forest officials of Udaipur district where many top officers addressed the students and discussed about the importance of Ozone Layer Day and why we celebrate it.

Forest Conservator Om Prakash Sharma informed students, “In 1987, United Nations initiated an agreement to solve the bad effects caused by Ozone Layer. The agreement was done at Montreal, Canada, it was called The Montreal Protocol. The agreement was signed on 16th Sept and hence every year this day is celebrated as Ozone Layer Day.”

Rahul Bhatnagar, chief forest conservator discussed on how to prevent deterioration of the ozone layer to save the environment.

KK Garg informed, “The gas hydrochlorofluorocarbons is the main cause of ozone depletion and for that we humans are responsible. To lower the hydrochlorofluorocarbons, we have to control air pollution caused by industries, automobiles and depleting forests.”
