Whether the Shilpgram fest is happening in January or not is a big question. The 10-day fest happens every year in December, but 2020 did not see the fest happening as pandemic cases were on the rise and administration had declared that the fest would happen twice in 2021 and the first of the fests was supposed to begin by 22nd January.

Now that the day has arrived and the artisans are all set getting their stalls ready, administration is yet to give a green signal. The lifting of night curfew has given new hopes to all the people involved in trade and the performing artists are also constantly rehearsing, but the question again is “when will it happen?”

It was earlier decided to have 2 fests in Shilpgram, one in January 2021 and the second one as per usual schedule in December 2021. The West Zone Cultural Centre has also sent a proposal for the fest but is waiting for approval from the administration.

The Shilpgram fest is one amazing fest that engages the public to a good extent. With a variety of stalls catering to the needs of people regarding fashion, food and entertainment under the open sky the fest has made its mark on the map of world tourism. Now that the pandemic has been controlled to a great extent, prays and hopes are on for the fest to begin soon. It is yet another issue that the fest attracts an immense crowd and all possible measures will have to be strictly followed to ensure everybody’s safety.
