Shilpgram Fest Day 9: Folk Instrument Symphony Steals the Show
A grand musical symphony and vibrant folk dances from across India captivates culture lovers in large numbers at Shilpgram Festival
Udaipur, Dec 30, 2025 - Day 9 (December 29) of the Shilpgram Festival saw an interesting musical symphony on the Muktakashi Stage with more than three dozen folk musical instruments from across India coming together to resonate with powerful, soaring notes. This musical symphony was conceptualised and directed by Furqan Khan, Director of West Zone Cultural Centre (WZCC), Udaipur.

Instruments from Rajasthan’s border regions of Jaisalmer and Barmer to Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh and many other States created a magical ambience. The ensemble included khartal, morchang, various forms of dhol, dholak and dholki, madal, sarangi, flute, rabab, matki, pung, ransingha, karnal, been, harmonium, bhapang, algoza and more.
Earlier on the Muktakashi Stage, folk dances from various States captivated the audience. These included the Mayur folk dance, Manipur’s classical-folk Pung Cholom, West Bengal’s Rai Benshe, Natua and Purulia Chhau, Maharashtra’s Lavani, Rajasthan’s Kalbeliya, Bhapang of Mewat region, Uttarakhand’s Chhapeli, Assam’s Bihu, Manipur’s Thang-Ta, Gujarat’s Siddi Dhamal, Punjab’s Bhangra and Singhi Chham.

The programme was hosted by Durgesh Chandwani and Dr Mohita Dixit.
Before the main event, audiences also enjoyed Sundari Vadan, Teratali, Manganiyar singing and Bhavai dance performances on the Muktakashi Stage.
Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament (MP) Chunnilal Garasiya attended the performances and later toured the fair and reviewed the arrangements and activities.
Tuesday (December 30) is the last day of the 10-day Shilpgram Festival which has been organised by the WZCC.

Special Attractions on Final Evening
The final evening of the festival, Tuesday (December 30) evening will feature the musical symphony directed by Furqan Khan along with a wide range of folk dances.
