The festival of Cheti Chand was marked by the Sindhi community of Udaipur today in a form of large procession laden with colorfully decorated tableaus, musical bands and a community feast.

Spreading social and religious messages, hundreds and thousands of men and women took part in the procession which started in the morning and passed through several areas of the city.

Cheti Chand is celebrated as the New Year of Sindhi community and also as the birthday of Saint Jhulelal.

Almost all small and large groups of the community amalgamated at Shakti Nagar and proceeded towards Kamlavadi, Gulab Bagh Road and a feast was arranged at the community hall of Kamlavadi.

According to sources, the procession included around 20 tableaus, consisting of horses and musical bands. Dressed in similar attire, group of men were seen chanting slogans and greeting each other on the occasion.
