The second and final day of the Tagornama the two day dance and drama program to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore saw Tagore’s play (With Love…) being enacted.
Mallika Sarabhai and Australian Director Steve Mayer Miller were instrumental in creating this dance drama based on Tagore’s play.
Mallika played the role of Victoria Ocampo, while Revanta Sarabhai and Tom Alter enacted Rabindranath Tagore in his youth and old age respectively.
The play captures Tagore’s agony and efforts in his fight for women rights as he paints, ponders and battles his personal demons in the quest.
Tagore’s personification was enacted wonderfully by both Revanta and Tom Alter, as they enacted the moments in his fight against inequality for women in society and for women education and her rights in society.
