The second day of the Shilpgram Utsav-2014 commenced with shopping extravaganza at the Haat Bazar where Vastra Sansar, Jute Bazar and Mrin Shilp were topping the charts.

The second day of the Shilpgram Utsav-2014 commenced with shopping extravaganza at the Haat Bazar where Vastra Sansar, Jute Bazar and Mrin Shilp were topping the charts.

Shoppers explored the wide variety of bed sheets, sarees, dresses, jute bags, jute jewelry, sofa set made of cane bamboo, clay statues etc. Added were the tastes of American corn, dhokla, dal bati, makka ki roti etc.

The cultural frame started off with the Bam Rasiya Artists who played the folk instrument Bam and sang Faag and Rasiya. The Gavri Dance and Lejhim artists from Maharashtra enchanted the audience present in the fair. Street side magic and impressionist (Behrupiya) artists entertained the lot.

The sand arts made by Tangaiya and his Guru M. Rangarajan, recipient of Tulsi Award from Tamil Nadu were the main attractions.

In the mesmerizing evening that started at the Kalangan, various artists showcased ethnic art forms on the stage. Punjabi Gidda performed by ladies depicted the wedding fun. Followed by Rauf Dance of J&K, the audience was spellbound by the artists’ performance.

Symphony called ‘Lok Naad’ conglomerating 40 players synced more than 2 dozen instruments such as Sarangi, Kamayacha, Dholak, Khadtaal, Algoza, Dhol, Surinda, Morchang, Murli, Matka, Bhapang, Sundari, Tasha, Dholki, Tuntuna, Majeera etc. and created a magical, musical atmosphere.

Gair Dance and Baiga Karma Dance by artists from MP showcased their tribal touch. In between, Varai Natnam from Puducherry, Vasava Holi from Gujarat, Gotipuva of Odisha, Baun Song from West Bengal were folk treats.
