Organized by Nagar Nigam, the Deepawali Mela 2015 commenced in the city in the presence of Rasbihari Sharanji Maharaj. Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria inaugurated the festivities on Monday. 

MP Arjun Lal Meena, MLA (Rural) Phool Singh Meena, Dinesh Bhatt, Nilima Sukhadia, Rajni Dangi, Mayor Chandra Singh Kothari, Lokesh Dwivedi, Sapna Kurdia, Commissioner Himmat Singh Barhath and Jagdish Chandra Menaria were present at the dais along with a large number of people.

Kataria appreciated the smart city initiative taken by the locals with the help of administration and whilst talking about the Mela, he said that addition of sports activities such as volleyball and kabaddi etc. should be made from next year onward.

The event started with local talents performing on the stage which mesmerized the audience. The programme commenced with Ganesh Vandana by Garvita Bapna followed by dance by Madhuri Sinha and song performances by many including Amrut Audichya, Dharmendra Khatik, Vishal Katwa, Sonu Gavaiya, Vikram Soni, Sonu Saifi, Abhishek Vairagi, Mahi Modi, Vaishali Vyas, Anil Dangi and Ramesh Meena etc.
