Udaipur Bird Festival: Winners of Bird Race Announced

Bird lovers participated in the Udaipur Bird Festival Bird Race, identifying species across Menar, Vallabhnagar, Kheroda and Piladar wetlands

Udaipur, Jan 16, 2026 - Bird lovers participated in the Bird Race event on Thursday (January 15) which was held as part of the Udaipur Bird Festival. Key wetlands within the approximate 60-km area of Udaipur were explored for bird species. The findings from these areas, including Menar, Vallabhnagar, Kheroda and Piladar, were recorded in the e-Birds App and logbooks.

Five expert teams conducted bird surveys from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm across various water bodies and forests. Each team had been named after birds. The race was flagged off from Van Bhawan (Forest House) at Chetak Circle by Deputy Conservator of Forests (North) Ajay Chittoda and Deputy Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) Yadvendra Singh Chundawat.

Officer-in-charge Assistant Conservator of Forests Surbhi Sharma and Assistant Conservator of Forests Kapil Rajpurohit were also present along with other officials.

The team identifying the highest number of bird species was declared the winner. The judging panel included bird experts Rajpal Singh, Vikam Singh and Anil Changani.
