Udaipur Divisional Commissioner Felicitated for Promoting Sports and Tribal Talent
On International Women’s Day in Udaipur, Divisional Commissioner Pragya Kevalramani was honoured for promoting sports and tribal talent
Udaipur, March 10, 2026 – A special event was organised in Udaipur on the occasion of International Women’s Day in which Divisional Commissioner Pragya Kevalramani was felicitated for her significant contribution toward the development of tribal areas and the promotion of sports. She has been continuously working to promote hidden sports talents in tribal areas which was acknowledged and appreciated by those present.
International-level lacrosse players, who have brought recognition to the country, also participated in the event. These included Sunita Meena, Jula Kumari Gurjar, Dali Gameti, Meera Dauja, Yashishtha Batra, Yashoda Gameti, Vishakha Meghwal, Roshni Bose, Janvi Rathore, Mukan Kumari Gurjar and Hemlata Dangi.
Sportspersons and parents who were present said there is no shortage of talent in tribal regions, but owing to a lack of resources many talents remain undiscovered. In such a situation, the initiatives taken by the Divisional Commissioner to develop sports infrastructure, provide training opportunities and encourage athletes are highly commendable. As a result of these efforts, several athletes are now making their mark at national and international levels.
In her address to the gathering, Kevalramani encouraged women athletes and said they should never consider themselves inferior to anyone. She emphasised that confidence, discipline and consistent practice are the keys to success for any athlete. If players move toward their goals with dedication and hard work, they can bring pride not only to their region but also to the country at national and international levels.
The Divisional Commissioner especially urged girls and young women from tribal areas to come forward and participate in sports. She said the government and administration are committed to providing better training, facilities and opportunities to talented athletes so they can fully utilise their potential and set positive examples in society.
