Janmashtami, the day of Lord Krishna’s birth will be celebrated in Udaipur with full enthusiasm on Monday, Aug 22. All essential preparations have been made in various temples of the city, including famous Asthal Mandir at Surajpol.

The Day is celebrated as the birthday day of Lord Krishna who is considered as one of the avatar of Lord Vishnu.

Udaipur is ready to Celebrate Krishna’s Birthday

Janmashatami is a nationwide festival and hold an important place among festivals of Hindus. However, singing of hymns and chanting has already started in many temples, however on the main day large number of crowd is expected to pay homage in Krishna temples.

According to sources, today at midnight birth of Krishna will be celebrated at Jagdish Temple followed by Maha-Aarti and on Aug 22 at Jagdish chowk a well-known event of dahi-handi or matki-fod will take place. A pot filled with yoghurt is going to be hanged on 25ft height.

Several teams of youth will attempt to get hold of it by making human pyramid to reach the pot, break it and win the prize money of Rs.15, 000.

The main utsav will be organized at Asthal Mandir tomorrow Aug 22nd. All the necessary arrangements have been done both inside and outside the temple premises.

Various tableaus depicting different phases of Krishna’s life from his birth to the battle of Mahabharat will be depicted by small kids to elderly people associated with the celebration committee. People can see these tableaus through big screens displayed outside.

People keep fast for the whole day and eat only after 12 that is believed to be the birth time of Lord Krishna.
