In Udaipur, the procession of Taziya was taken on the 10th day of Muharram. Taziyas are replicas of Imam Hussain’s mausoleum and are made of wood and paper.
This year, Udaipur saw silver Taziya, made of Sagwan wood and covered with 12 kg silver sheet. Also in a noble attempt to save water from pollution, the Badi Paltan Taziya was not immersed in Lake Picchola and was instead taken back to the Badi Paltan masjid at Chetak Circle.
Taziyas from different localities were carried around in the city where Muslims paid tribute to the Taziyas and offered flowers and prayers etc.
