Van Mela 2026 at Sajjangarh on Jan 17 and 18
A grand showcase of forest products and biodiversity to be organised in Udaipur for the first time
Udaipur, Jan 12, 2026 - For the first time in the city, the Forest Department is organising a grand Van Mela (Forest Fair) Udaipur 2026. This two-day forest fair will be held on January 17 and 18 at Sajjangarh. The fair aims to introduce the public to the rich biodiversity, forest products and traditional tribal knowledge of the Udaipur division.
Strong Platform for ‘Vocal for Local’
Sunil Chidri, Divisional Chief Conservator of Forests, said the event is dedicated to the Vocal for Local campaign. Forest products made from important local plants — including medicinal, organic and fully natural products — will be displayed, promoted and marketed. Information about processing, value addition and marketing of forest products will also be shared, creating new livelihood opportunities for local communities.
The fair will feature selected special and desired products from all districts of the Udaipur division under the Panch Gaurav initiative. In addition, prominent organisations such as the Bombay Natural History Society, World Wide Fund for Nature and other NGOs working in the region will also display and sell their key forest products.
Special Stalls on Forest and Wildlife Conservation
Along with forest products, the Van Mela will host special stalls featuring local and traditional products, books on forest and wildlife conservation and materials based on the traditional knowledge of tribal communities. These stalls aim to raise awareness about environmental protection.
Confluence of Nature, Tradition, Progress
Van Mela Udaipur 2026 is not just an exhibition of forest products but also an important initiative promoting nature conservation, tribal culture and strengthening the local economy.
Chidri urged city residents, villagers and tourists from across India and abroad to visit this unique forest fair, explore the treasure of biodiversity in the Udaipur division and support forest products crafted using centuries-old tribal knowledge.
