“UMEED – 1000” – Reaches IIM Udaipur

Umeed 1000' Mumbai-Delhi Cyclothon arrived at the campus of IIM Udaipur on December 11, 2015. The cyclothon was flagged off in Mumbai on 7th December and is being led by Mr. Jasmeet Singh Gandhi, a cycling enthusiast.

 

“UMEED – 1000” – Reaches IIM Udaipur Umeed 1000′ Mumbai-Delhi Cyclothon arrived at the campus of IIM Udaipur on December 11, 2015. The cyclothon was flagged off in Mumbai on 7th December and is being led by Mr. Jasmeet Singh Gandhi, a cycling enthusiast.

The 1000 kilometers journey will be completed in 10 days all the while raising awareness and funds for providing access to quality education for girls and empowering those belonging from rural disadvantaged backward villages in India. The cyclothon is being organized by RBL Bank in association with IIMPACT.

“UMEED – 1000” – Reaches IIM Udaipur

IIMPACT was established in 2003 by the alumni of the graduating class of 1978 of the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. It provides primary education upto class V to girls who don’t currently go to school and hail from economically marginalized rural communities in India. Over a span of 12 years, they have succeeded in providing quality education to over 50,000 girls across 11 states.

Among the cyclists were Mr.Jasmeet Singh Gandhi, Mr.Harshvardhan Sharma, Mr.Vishal Phadnis and Mr.Arun Kelkar. The participants of the cyclothon were joined by cyclists from IIM Udaipur as they did a run from the MLSU university gate to the IIM college campus. This was followed by an interactive session with the students where they shared their experiences on the road and the work IIMPACT has been doing.

After touring the campus and further interaction regarding the social activities being carried out at the college campus, the team resumed their journey. The entire event at the campus was managed by Prayatna – the social responsibility club of IIM Udaipur.
