Udaipur, March 18, 026 - Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde says that in today’s era of global competition, universities play a vital role in making India self-reliant and that education is not just a medium of knowledge but a strong foundation for nation-building. If universities promote indigenous thinking and innovation, India can establish a distinct identity at the global level, the Governor added.
Governor Bagde was on Tuesday (March 17) addressing the inaugural ceremony of the two-day Association of Indian Universities (AIU) West Zone Vice Chancellors Meet 2025-26 at the Dabok campus of Janardan Rai Nagar Rajasthan Vidyapeeth during his visit to Udaipur. Vice Chancellors from Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra and other States are participating in this conference.
The Governor highlighted that concepts like technological nationalism and economic patriotism are not mere slogans but commitments that must be implemented in practice. He urged universities to empower youth towards job creation through research, innovation and skill development. Aligning Indian values with modern technology under the National Education Policy will help achieve the goal of a self-reliant India, he stressed.
Referring to the Ramayana, Governor Bagde said that Lord Hanuman was powerful but was reminded of his strengths by Jambavan and that, among the eminent educationists present, he was here just to play the role of Jambava and not to teach.
Public Works, Women & Child Development, and Women Empowerment State Minister Dr. Manju Baghmar, Prime Minister’s Economic Advisor Dr. Gaurav Vallabh, AIU President Dr. Vinay Pathak, and Secretary General Pankaj Mittal were also present at the event. From Rajasthan Vidyapeeth, Chief Patron BL Gurjar and Vice Chancellor Dr S S Sarangdevot, along with others, welcomed the dignitaries.
