Vidya Bhawan releases book on ‘The Concerns of India in the 21st Century’
A book titled ‘The Concerns of India in the 21st Century’, published by Vidya Bhawan Society on the occasion of its Diamond Jubilee, was released today by Justice Govind Naryan Mathur of Rajasthan High Court, Jodhpur.

The book is edited by Dr. Veddan Sudhir and Dr. H.K. Diwan. The function was held at Vidya Bhawan G.S. Teachers College auditorium and was attended by an overwhelming number of academicians and intellectuals of the city.
Referring to the book been dedicated to the Constituent Assembly, Justice Govind Narayan said that the Constitution of India is full of great hope and ideals, and was adopted by the people of India. These have not been fulfilled to the extant expected in six decades. Citing Jean Dreze’s article in the book, Narayan said that democracy is a tool to bring a non-violent revolution in the socio-economic life of people.
Riaz Tehsin, President of Vidya Bhawan Society, said that we have to decide whether we wish to build our nation as a super-power and subsequently become one of the hated nations or we chose to become a peaceful nation.
Editors Dr. Veddan Sudhir gave a backgrounder of the book while Dr. H.K. Diwan said that the book is in line with Vidya Bhawan’s publications which refer to the concerns of the day and are brought out in people’s language. Prof. Naresh Bhargava presented a review of the book and stressed upon the need to bring out a sequel to the book.
