The book, edited by Dr. H.K. Dewan and Dr. Ved Dan Sudhir and published by Samayik Books, New Delhi, deals with several challenges in the field of education, health, employment, human rights, gender equity, the health of democratic institutions etc.

The editors have been able to pick up a few distinguished thinkers, social workers, educationists and administrators who have contributed thought provoking articles based on deep learning and vast experience. Some of the articles have tried to examine the relevance of ideas and thoughts of Gandhi and Ambedkar in tackling the present problems.

New challenges like fast developments in information-technology, international terrorism, economic imperialism; which have specifically cropped up in this century have also been studied and discussed in depth. In short, most of the articles are not only illuminating but also extremely readable.
