Today on the occasion of ‘Dasha Mata Poojan’, women of Udaipur and nearby areas were widely seen worshiping Goddess Dasha Mata and adoring Peepal Tree. From very early in the morning women were seen going to the temples, the poojan activities stretched till afternoon.

Today on the occasion of ‘Dasha Mata Poojan’, women of Udaipur and nearby areas were widely seen worshiping Goddess Dasha Mata and adoring Peepal Tree. From very early in the morning women were seen going to the temples, the poojan activities stretched till afternoon.

Various prominent temples were seen crowded all with the women, who were present to worship and listen to the stories of ‘dasmaa’ recited by ladies themselves.

Ladies worshipped Dasha Mata and Peepal tree, which is believed to bring prosperity to the family of the devotee. Conventionally, married women keep a ten-day fast, where every day they recite a ‘dasmaa’ story and perform ‘pooja’.

In total nine stories are recited, typically with the story of ‘Naldamayanti’ recited twice. Women along with keeping fast also keep themselves off-food before reciting/hearing the stories.

Peepal tree is worshipped, according to the belief that Goddess Dasha Mata resides in the tree itself.
