The first World Laughter yoga day was celebrated on January 10, 1998, in Mumbai. The founder of this day is Dr.Madan Kataria. Laughter is a positive emotion that has all the ingredients required for individuals to change themselves and to change the world in a peaceful and positive way.

Dr. Kataria believes that a person’s facial expression can have an effect on their emotions. It is celebrated by people gathering in one place for the purpose of laughing. Jokes are cracked; fun element is involved hence inducing artificial laughter which ultimately makes a person laugh naturally giving positive effects on physical and mental health.
