World Museum Day – Ahar Marked Golden Jubliee

the legendary museum of Ahar which depict the thousands of year old Ahar Civilization was the center of attraction. Also because today this museum has marked its 50th foundation day since it started in 1961-62.

 

Udaipur celebrated the World Museum Day by organizing various events and exhibitions at different museums of Udaipur.

A theme named “Geet Govind” showcased the paintings of 17th century done by various renowned artists of Udaipur’s Takhman Art Gallery. Geet Govind is poetry by Jaydev which describes about the relations of Lord Krishna & Radha. All paintings were based on this theme by famous artists of Udaipur.

The program was inaugurated by T.L.Meena – ex I.G. of Udaipur, S.P. Singh -Director of Archeology & Museam Department, Jaipur was also made their presence in the event. For common public, facility of free entry was provided.

A painting competition was also held with the theme of “Green Rajasthan, Clean Rajasthan”. All Winners’ paintings were exhibited in the art gallery.

Professor K.S. Gupta expressed that art of architecture is blended with science.

Dr Dev Kothari uttered: “All cultures developed not just at the river bank but at many ponds etc.”

There were few discussions in the meet held for Ahar culture like:

  • Ahar had been a major agricultural heritage from beginning.
  • People from Ahar heritage were very well aware with printing.
  • Safety measures for Ahar heritage.

Ahar museum contains the excavated materials of dhulkot mount, civilization of Ahar is 4000 years old.
