Like every other year since 1980,
UNWTO announced September 27, 2010 to be
World Tourism Day (WTD) with a theme of
“Tourism and Biodiversity”. This year
China is official host of WTD, marking official celebrations along with many other events taking place worldwide. Alluring International communities and groups towards challenges and key notes, regarding this one of the great industry that keeps its importance in terms of revenues, relations and entertainment, WTD has its own importance. This year’s campaign will revolve around two issues mainly that are
biodiversity conservation and eradication of poverty. “Sustainable” word echoes much in today’s scenario, a great concern to save resources for our future generation is boggling in mind of many environmentalists and tourism pioneers. Human is well acquainted with repercussions of his hammering actions and may his every effort genuinely bring upon the change. Mighty save the world!!!
Udaipur’s stand in
tourism industry is getting strong day by day, may it be toping list of best cities last year, ranking of
Udai Vilas Hotel as No. 1 in Asia or
Hotel Taj Lake Place making entry in
World’s Best Hotel list. These are few laurels embarking its stand on Tourism forefront but the need is to “sustain” this image.
Udaipur endowed with rich biodiversity including
Lakes, Monuments, Wildlife Sanctuaries, Forts & Palaces is an apple of eye for many who revisit this city to satisfy their
love of nature. This month bring with it various reasons to smile for Udaipur starting from hosting
IATO convention, lakes outreaching their levels, advent of luxury
train Royal Rajasthan on Wheels, embarkment of adventure tourism, inauguration of light and sound system at
Kumbhalgarh Fort by State Tourism Minister
Mrs.Bina Kak. However, this is not an end; it is the
beginning of responsibility.
Often we take pride in big success, but the reality disguised by outer shine polish cannot remain hidden from its residents. The rage on lakeside garbage, local management, misbehave with foreign tourists are some issues on which Udaipurites are coming forward which is the true way of celebrating World Tourism Day.
Last days when
Udaipur hosted IATO convention,
Mr. R.H.Khwaja, Union Tourism Secretary, said very special thing that tourism cannot boom by wand of magic, instead the day when every individual will begin to take responsibility of his/her actions and reactions we will not need any rules and planning. People will become our messengers and true promoters of tourism. This is the solution of every problem may it be the
garbage at lakeside or overcharging foreign tourists. Meanwhile, Happy World Tourism Day!
