WZCC to host cultural program “Malhaar” at Gangaur Ghat
One of the shores of Lake Pichola will be mesmerized by the musical extravaganza ‘Malhaar’ which is going to be held on Saturday 24th August at Gangaur Ghat. The two day program is organized in the joint association of Sangeet Natak Academy, New Delhi and Directorate of Art & Culture, Government of Goa.

The two day program is organized in the joint association of Sangeet Natak Academy, New Delhi and Directorate of Art & Culture, Government of Goa.
Sitar playing, Kathak Dance and Mayur Dance will be the center of attraction in Malhaar.
According to Shailendra Dashora, Director WZCC, “Malhaar is a type of music which is commonly played during rainy season. The program will amalgamate all cultural, traditional and classical art and music.”
On the first evening of Malhaar, young musician from Goa, Laxmikant Khandekar will play Sitar. Khandekar started playing Sitar at the age of 19 under the teachings of Ustad Rehmat Khan. He is presently learning Sitar from Pandit Yograj Nayak, famous sitarist of Itawa Gharana and also learning from Ustad Shahid Parvez Khan and Shakir Khan.
Kathak Dancer Rekha Thakar from Jaipur Gharana will present her classical dance with her students. Thereafter, Ashok Sharma and his group will present Mayur Dance.
On the last day of the program i.e. on Sunday, vocal artist Prachi Pradeep Jathar from Goa will present her art.
