Devji Shrimali Showcases 65 Black-and-White Artwork at Bagore ki Haveli

Udaipur, Dec 5, 2025 - An exclusive solo art exhibition titled “The Space Within” by Gujarat’s senior artist Devji Shrimali, born in Surendranagar, Limdi, began on Thursday at Bagore ki Haveli, Udaipur. The exhibition showcases a collection of black-and-white drawings.

The exhibition was inaugurated by renowned city artist and Director of the Faculty of Visual Arts, Prof. Hemant Dwivedi. A special feature of this black-and-white art exhibition is that the ink used in the artworks has been handmade by the artist himself, and no brush has been used in creating these drawings. All strokes have been rendered using only cloth.

Speaking about his artworks, Devji shared that after the COVID period, he attempted to portray the emotions and psychological impressions influenced by the pandemic through his drawings. Over the last three years, he has created nearly 8,000 drawings, of which 65 artworks have been selected for display in this exhibition.

Devji is a distinguished and highly respected artist of Gujarat. He has received State-level awards from the Gujarat Lalit Kala Akademi in painting, photography and drawing, and was also honoured with the Gaurav Award by the Akademi last year.

Several noted personalities of the city, including Hemant Mehta, Sunil Nimawat, Gaurav Sharma, Shahid Parvez, Sharmila Rathore and Chitraseen  were present on the occasion.

The exhibition will remain open for artists and art lovers free of charge until December 11, daily from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm.
