Craftsmen from 14 states will participate in the ten day workshop at Shilpgram, Udaipur, based on Terracotta Art. The event will start from 3rd Oct and will continue till 12th Oct.
It is organized under the banner of West Zone Cultural Center (WZCC).
Shailendra Dashora, director of WZCC said that the art of terracotta exists in every Indian state and have varied forms and techniques, like Molela is a very different genre of Rajasthan than Bankuda in West Bengal.
30 Craftsmen from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Odisha, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Chattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, West Bengal and Bihar will take part in the workshop and will share their knowledge and experiences.
Shailendra Dashora said that WZCC will provide the special soil from Molela, whereas, many artists will bring the soil of their states with them. “It is going to be the amalgamation of varied Indian art and culture at Shilpgram” said Dashora.
All sculptures prepared during the workshop will be installed in the newly made Terracotta Museum in Shilpgram.
