Come summers and we all tend to lose appetite. The scorching heat makes us stay away from food which actually causes a negative impact on our mind and body. We lose out on the necessary ingredients that help us in maintaining body temperature and as a result a sun stroke may hit us very badly.

Before leaving home in the early hours, even if it 8 or 8:30a.m. we must eat properly. A heavy breakfast is the best option, but for those who cannot even think of eating a good meal at the start of the day, a heavy salad can be the best option. A heavy salad’s main ingredient is curd which is very helpful in keeping the stomach full yet cool for longer hours and with some good additions to it, it can prove to be a whole meal till you get back home in the afternoon or move out for a ‘munch’ break.

Curd keeps our body cool. Benefits of curds are many. When eaten with lunch, it acts as a digestive and also provides nourishment. Coming back to the morning meal, a curd salad can be a very cooling and a welcome breakfast. All you need to stock at home is cucumber, beetroot, pomegranate, onions(optional), tomato, green coriander, green chilli and of course some chaat masala.

Chop raw beetroot, tomato, cucumber, green chilli(as per taste/optional), a tbsp of coriander leaves and onions(onions help beat heat and also prevent sun strokes). Mix all these in a bowl of curd with a tbsp of fresh pomegranate seeds. Add black salt, powdered cumin(jeera) and some chaat masala as per taste. A dash of freshly ground black pepper is also recommended. For those who love that little extra sugar, half a tsp of sugar can also be added for that finishing chatpata taste. Leave in the refrigerator(not freezer) for 10 to 15 minutes. Eat before you leave home and see the difference. You will feel full yet active while you are at work or for your coaching classes. This will also have a good effect on your health and you will not feel bloated at all.
