Cookies and peanuts in AI short distance flights
In AI flight for less than an hour? Munch on cookies and peanuts.
Air India is on a cost cutting measure again. As per news, economy class passengers travelling on a flight less than one hour long will now be given peanuts and cookies instead of samosas and sandwiches.
Sources say that Air India is on both cost cutting and food saving measures. Passengers who board the Air India flight for a short duration will now help themselves with peanuts and cookies packets which will be available at the entrance of aircraft. This move is also likely to stop complaints of stale sandwiches and samosas. Packets with long shelf life will be available for passengers. This move will also avoid excess loading of food on aircrafts.
As per a senior AI official, these packed food items do not need refrigeration and will not be carried on food carts. Passengers can pick up their packets when they board the flight and eat or carry the packets with them as they please.
It has also been informed that passengers will be served only lunch and dinner during the flight. Cost cutting also includes replacing paneer with potato and fish/prawns with chicken. It may be noted that last year Air India had announced only vegetarian food for economy class passengers.
