The food safety regulator introduced V as logo for Vegan products.
There is a small plant on top of the logo and VEGAN inscribed in green at the bottom.
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has introduced a new logo for Vegan food products. The food safety regulator has logos for vegetarian and non-vegetarian food products which are green dot and brown dot respectively.
The Vegan products will come with a green coloured logo having a V with a plant at the top and VEGAN inscribed at the bottom. The FSSAI CEO said that since people are moving towards “veganism” , the new logo will help identify vegan food with ease.
Being a Vegan means that you abstain from all types of animal products including milk. People in India are now moving towards veganism and several companies are now launching products that are plant based.
The logo has been developed by Kruti Manish Rathore of Mount Caramel College, Bangalore, under the guidance of Sangeeta Pandey. Kruti is pursuing her Masters in Food Science and Nutrition.
