The Pratapgarh Chaat stall, located at Police Lines near the Udaipur Bus Stand, is a popular spot for locals and visitors alike to enjoy snacks like Kachori and Papdi Chaat. As the rains lash down on Udaipur, cravings for warm and flavorful snacks often follow, drawing crowds to the stall.
Established in 1981 by the grandfather of current owner Vineet Arora, the Pratapgarh Chaat stall has been a staple for Udaipur residents for decades. Originally located at Bapu Bazaar, the stall moved to its current location near the Police Line area about 20 years ago.
The Signature Kachori
The Kachori served here is known for its Hing (asafoetida) flavour that pairs well with the tangy Imli (Tamarind) Chutney and Dahi (creamy Curd). Each Kachori is deep-fried to perfection in low to medium heated oil, ensuring that it remains light and non-greasy. Arora shares that despite being deep-fried, the Kachori absorbs the oil well, leaving it crispy and not oily.
Papdi Chaat
Another must-try snack at this stall is the Papdi Chaat, a flavorful combination of crisp Papdi, Dahi, and Tamarind Chutney, enhanced with a sprinkle of red chilli powder and a pinch of salt.
Affordable and Accessible
The Pratapgarh Chaat Stall operates from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, making it a convenient stop for breakfast, lunch, or an evening snack. And the best part? These delicious snacks are budget-friendly, with each Kachori or serving of Papdi Chaat priced at just Rs 15/- per plate.
