Worms in biscuit packet-Company Penalized
Worms were found in a biscuit packet bought from Big Bazar.
A biscuit company has been penalized by District Forum for Consumer protection since worms were found in the biscuit packet. There were worms found in the McVitie’s biscuit packet bought from Big Bazar.
Consumer Deepak Harkawat bought McVitie’s biscuit from Big Bazar and found worms in the packet. He went to Big Bazaar asking them to take the packet back and refund the amount of 38 rupees that he had paid for the product. Big Bazar management refused to refund the amount. Deepak Harkawat took the matter to lawyer Dilip Nagda who took the packet for a lab test in State food laboratory of MB Hospital.
As per the report provided after lab test, it was declared that there were worms present in the packet which obviously is danger on human health. Randhir Singh Naruka, Forum’s President and Anubha Sharma, Member of the Forum issued notice to the biscuit company in New Delhi. As per the notice, the biscuit company is supposed to refund the money paid by the consumer along with 6 thousand rupees as compensation for mental harassment and 3 thousand rupees as charges borne by the consumer for legal proceedings.
