Ayad River: The Neglected "Ganga" Of Udaipur

Ahar River (Ayad), tributary of Berach River, is once again dancing on rhythm of the upcoming water from Fateh Sagar and Swaroop Sagar. Ahar is on its full swing.
This forgotten river flowing through Udaipur is connected to almost every lake and river of Udaipur including Bada Madar, Chhota Madar, Bedla River, Govardhan Sagar, Nela Taalab, Roopsagar, Fateh Sagar and Swaroop Sagar. But ironically, now it is serving as the drainage body of the city filled with garbage!!
Four years back in 2006, when Ayad was on ebullition and showed its hidden swiftness, it received many promises by authorities may it be wiping out garbage and sewerage or developing it as Venice. However, that was a day and today is a day; history is going to repeat itself. Still, Ayad is stinking!! Again, promises will be laid down!! Again, after sometime everybody will forget to look at this river!!
I do not understand, what we wait for? Why after making so many announcements, today we are still standing at the place from where we left? Why being the sole river flowing through entire city, it is still neglected? Why there is no Venice? Why Ayad River is so unfortunate?
These questions are not only for authorities but also for every citizen, who do not forget to embrace beauty of lakes and river when they are at their best. But, very easily forgets when same beauty turns nasty.
I wish this year Ayad is not ignored, neglected and dumped with wastes and garbage. This river has the ability to turn Udaipur into Venice.
