Tired of my daily schedule, I decided to take a break. The thought of going very far didn’t suit my senses at all. So instead of asking friends for a long drive, I decided to take a break by the lake side. Since watching water is considered soothing to eyes and soul, I went to one of the most beautiful ghats of Udaipur-the one and only Gangaur ghat where a lot of festivals take place and where many rituals are performed. River/lake/banks have always been considered sacred. So very obviously, for cleansing my mind I couldn’t think of a better place.

Though the water on the sides is not as clean as it should be, I still loved the view. My eyes went far enough to the hills and to the ripples in the lake, ripples that set my heart beat on calm. The sight of puppies engaged in their own fun brought a smile to my face, face that had been tensed on account of working regularly. Those cute little bundles were rolling over each other so playfully that every one stopped to take a look and each one very intently.

The most breathtaking sight were the pigeons as when they took a flight right above my head, I wished for the sky to be covered only by them. The beauty of a less than 100 pigeons flying together hiding the sun was mesmerizing.

A lot of people were enjoying boat rides, the sight of which was more than interesting as the water sparkled like diamonds with the boat almost breaking the diamonds with a splash.  I most certainly thought that maybe this is how a diamond would look if split into pieces(a weird thought, right?).

Gangaur ghat is the city’s answer to peace and beauty where noise doesn’t affect anyone as the lake  spread over seems to kill the sound of vehicles or absorbs all the noise to give you the peace you need for relaxation.

Apart from this, there is one thing that I missed and that was the old man playing music. An age old instrument and a jingling anklet play an important role in his instrumental music which the locals and tourists enjoy almost every day and I have made up my mind to go there again for that piece of music. Soft music by the lake is something that I have always dream of.

I spent two hours at Gangaur ghat today and my entire being felt at peace, the effect of which is still on me.
