Rajasthan is facing a severe heatwave crisis, with over 1,100 people rushed to emergency units for heatstroke treatment in the last two days, according to official health department figures.
On May 28, 2024, hospitals reported 343 new cases of heatstroke. The day before, on May 27, a staggering 813 people were treated for the same condition.
This summer, a total of 3,965 people have been diagnosed with heatstroke across the state. Alarmingly, more than 25% of these cases have occurred in the past two days.
Despite the high number of cases, the death toll from heatstroke remains at 4. The health department is urging residents to take precautions against the extreme heat and to seek immediate medical attention if symptoms of heatstroke occur.
