Have you ever felt let down by your face in that you don’t look as beautiful as you should? Ofcourse you have. Have you ever compared youself to a modal on TV and thought “I’m prettier than her, but I don’t look as good!!” Well if you have , there is a chance that you lack the glow that she has, and that is because you have been neglecting your skin for too long. A little bit of damage control is in order.

5 Tips For Healthy Skin

Healthy skin brings an instant glow to your face that enhances your beauty to such an extent that you could be shocked by what (rather, who) you see in the mirror. In case you are wondering a discussion of expensive skin treatments and products is coming up next, you are wrong!!!!

As is the case with most teenagers, I suffered from a skin plagued with acne and oversensitivity to dust and  the sun . After consulting a number of  medical practitioners and with plenty of futile medicines and therapies up my sleeve,  I decided to turn to the clichéd practices related to skin care , those made famous by personal experiences of people around me, and those suggested by beauty experts in blogs and television programs. Needless to say, these remedies turned out to be much more effective than any medicine, and most of them come without a single side effect!!!!! So it won’t hurt you to know about them and try a few!!!

A lot of therapies that can rejuvenate your skin consist of basic household ingredients and practices that would not only be absolutely free, but would also improve your overall health, not just your face!!!!

1. Drink about 6 to 8 glasses of water every day. Drinking water in good quantities is a practice you should follow religiously, It prevents dehydration which produces oil from the sebaceous glands. Your skin needs water in order for it to function best, thus doctors and nutritionists recommend that a daily intake of between 6 to 8 glasses of water per day is highly needed.

…………….

2. Exfoliate your body on a regular basis because it removes dead cells and leaves healthy skin behind. Exfoliation has been an ancient trend in India, with practices like applying curd and gram flour(besan) or multani mitti on your body. If it seems like more mess than you can bear, buy an exfoliate. Ofcourse, the thing to bear in mind here, is that out of the various types of exfoliates available which type suits your body better. Let’s say, a gel or sponge type exfoliate is an absolute NO-NO for someone with an oversensitive or acne-ridden skin. Such people would be better off using peel-off exfoliates. After exfoliating, don’t forget to moisturize your skin a little bit, you don’t want your skin to feel all raw and scratched!!!!

…………….

3. This tip is not just a therapy; it’s a way of life! Get natural!!!!! Choose natural products and stay clear of chemical based treatments like chem-peels and collagen induction . Believe me, there is a natural substitute for everything chemical that you use!!! And nature never hurts!!! To start off, avoid using soap on the face and to replace it, use a paste of neem leaves, or a paste of egg-white and honey, or turmeric and milk, the list can be endless  and this article is not!!! For further such nuskhas, contact your grandma!!!  Always avoid cosmetic products that have a chemical base , because lets face it, if you avoid cosmetics that are insiduous to your skin you might not need to hide a healthy skin under 5 coats of foundation!!!

…………….

4. Do plenty of exercise, and that doesn’t just mean push ups and using the bench press; get up early and engage in 15 minutes of pranayam, to start with. Anything that improves circulation and oxygen flow in your body would automatically improve the quality of your skin. Try to live a stress free life, and get a good night’s sleep everyday. Simple things like this , and before you know it, you would begin to glow!

…………….

5. And lastly, be minimalistic in putting on make up. If you have to, don’t compromize on the quality . And most importantly, properly remove all make up and wash your face and neck before going to sleep. Any cleanser can be used, and if you are averse to buying another overpriced tube from the market, use coconut oil or Ghee!!!

…………….

Your skin reflects your health. It is one of your body’s  most  valuable assets. Simple therapies and practices  can help you keep it in good shape . A glowing face can work wonders for the first impression you have on people. Cheers to a skin that smiles!!!
