Drug pricing regulator NPPA has issued notice to a total of 21 hospitals in Rajasthan and Gujarat, including 6 in Udaipur for not displaying on their websites the rates at which patients will be billed for knee implants.

Hospitals have been given 7 days to respond to the notice demanding explanation for non-adherence to Government directives.

As per notification released on Aug 16, 2017 and subsequent memorandums, the hospitals, nursing homes and clinics are mandated to display on the homepage of their websites, the MRP or price of the knee implants at which they will be billing the patients.

Readers may note that Government had on Aug 16 this year fied the price range of knee implants from Rs 54000 to Rs 1.14 Lakhs. This was lower by roughly 70 per cent than the prevailing prices then.
