221 units collected in annual blood drive as a tribute to Imam Hussain and Gaza victims; supported by The Udaipur Urban Co-operative Bank Ltd
Udaipur July 4, 2025 - In memory of the martyrs of Karbala and Imam Hussain (AS), the grandson of Prophet of Islam Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH), a blood donation camp was organised like every year by Dawoodi Bohra Jamaat and The Udaipur Urban Co-operative Bank Limited on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 (7 Muharram).
A large number of men and women participated in the camp donating 221 units of blood. It was held at the Community Hall in Bohrawadi.
The blood donation camp was supported by Fakhruddin Rangwal, Ismail Ali Durga and the HDFC Bank. Snacks were arranged by Ismail Ali Durga, whereas gifts were distributed to blood donors as a token of appreciation by The Udaipur Urban Co-operative Bank Limited.
Sharing the information, spokesperson for the Dawoodi Bohra Jamaat, Mansoor Ali Orawala said the camp was organised in the memory of Imam Hussain who had sacrificed himself and his 72 companions on the battle field of Karbala 1,400 years ago to keep humanity alive. This year's blood donation camp was also dedicated to the adults and children martyred in Gaza.
At the launch of the blood donation camp, Dr Vipin Mathur of Maharana Bhupal Hospital said he was happy to learn that Bohra Youth members have been donating blood for more than 50 years. He added that blood donation is a true service to humanity. He also expressed happiness over the large number of female blood donors in this camp. Throwing light on blood donation, he said it was an easy process and also that donors should be proud of this act.
On the occasion long-time donors, supporters and social contributors were felicitated, according to Bohra Youth Medical Relief Society president Anees Miyaji. These include Aqeel Ahmed Gurawala, who has been providing his services in the field of medical and social service for the 31st time, Murtaza Magarwala for donating blood 40 times, social worker Kulsum Saharanpurwala, Dr Abbas Hakim, Altaf Ahmed Gurawala and Shamim RV, who has taken the initiative to spread organ donation awareness. They were presented mementos and draped with Uparnas.
Present on the occasion were Dawoodi Bohra Jamaat (DBJ) president Iqbal Hussain Rassawala, DBJ secretary Firoz Tinwala, DBJ vice-president Abrar Ahmed Kathawala, Bohra Youth Sansthan secretary Yusuf Ali RG, Dr Ishaq Shah and Dr Rehana Banu.
Support was also provided by RNT Blood Bank team, Saral Blood Bank team, Bohra Youth Medical Relief Society secretary Sarfaraz Raj, Shabbir Tailor, Moiz Zari, Tahira Raj, Aashiq Rangwala, Asghar Momin, Shabbir Nasir and Fatima Bohra.
