The Neurology Team at Mewar Hospital has performed a difficult Spinal Surgery, which was earlier possible only at Hospitals in the metros.

The patient, Laxmi Bai suffered from a major accident that left her paralysed below the neck. She was shifted to Mewar Hospital in a condition of shock. The Trauma team immediately stabilised her. A bone fragment was seen lying in the spinal cord, which had been badly damaged due to the fragment.

The Patient was then taken to the Operation theatre where expert Neurosurgeons from AIIMS, Delhi, Dr. Ajit Singh & Dr. Yashpal Singh Rathore performed the delicate operation and took out the bone fragment compressing the cord and reconstructed the spinal column using a titanium cage and plate. Such an operation takes hours and needs a microscope to work on a delicate structure like the Spinal Cord.

The operation was a success and the patient is presently recovering in the hospital.
