Dengue Surge in Udaipur Calls For Fogging in Highly Affected Areas

Fines for vacant plot owners as mosquito breeding grounds increase...

Dengue Cases on Rise

Key Steps Highlights

  • Schedule regular fogging in high-risk areas, particularly those with high dengue incidences.
  • Collaborate with local authorities to enforce regulations and penalties to plot owners making the area polluted.
  • Implement anti-larval treatments to target mosquito larvae in water sources.
  • Organize rallies and awareness campaigns in education institutions.

Udaipur is experiencing a surge in dengue and malaria cases, largely due to poor sanitation and excessive garbage dumping. Vacant plots and areas around drains have become prime breeding grounds for mosquitoes.  The situation is compounded by the lack of fogging by the Udaipur Municipal Corporation, despite strong recommendations from health authorities.

Health Team to Your Door

To address this critical issue, a meeting was held at the Collectorate auditorium under the leadership of the District Collector Arvind Kumar Poswal. The meeting focused on the rising seasonal disease outbreaks and reviewed the activities conducted during the first phase of the "Health Team at Your Door" campaign.

During the meeting, officials stressed the urgency of increasing campaign participation and highlighted the necessity of fogging in areas with high dengue incidences. There was a directive to issue notices to owners of vacant plots where stagnant water is creating mosquito breeding sites, with a warning of legal actions if these issues are not promptly resolved.

Mosquito Control Measures

Further instructions were given for comprehensive mosquito control measures, including anti-larval and anti-adult treatments, source reduction activities, and MLO spraying. The meeting also underscored the need for heightened awareness in schools through rallies, posters, and student-led competitions. However, there was notable dissatisfaction due to the absence of education department officials from the discussion.

CMHO Dr. Shankar Lal Bamniya emphasized the need for all departments to actively engage in the "Health Team at Your Door" campaign to tackle the health crisis effectively and ensure a coordinated response to the rising disease cases.
