Dr Mahendra Jain, a Neonatologist with Geetanjali Medical College and Hospital conducted a worshop for medical students at Jawahar Lal Medical College, Ajmer.
Dr Jain talked about Continuous Positive Airwave Pressure (CPAP) and Arterial Blood Gas and the implication on new born babies. He mentioned that CPAP does not impact the lungs of the new-born babies and the babies have to spend a reduced time in the ICU. The mortality rates in the new born babies also goes down with the usage of CPAP. He also talked about how ABG can be used for monitoring the oxygen and carbondioxide levels in blood.
The workshop was organised with the intent of tackling serious issues that emerge in new-born cases. New developments in the field and deviation from the traditional methods was also discussed in the session.
The seminar attracted doctor, child specialists and students from around the region.
