The Cardiology Department of Geetanjali Medical College and Hospital achieved significant success in conducting Bioresorbable Vascular Scaffold (BVS). While most of the private hospitals in Udaipur region have Stent Absorbable which dissolves in the body.

Dr. C.P Purohit informed about this achievement today while addressing local media. Dr. Purohit said that his team conducted first BVS to a 52 year old Manjula Patidar from Neemuch. Patidar is now fully recovered and also able to do all her household work.

The patient was admitted following heart stroke. After coronary angiography, doctors of GMCH revealed critical 80% blockage in Proximal LAD which was unsettling the blood flow. Dr. C.P Purohit, Dr Harish Sanadhya and their team conducted Angioplasty by inserting bio absorbable stent which is the first Bioresorbable Vascular Scaffold conducted in Udaipur region.

According to Dr. Harish Sanadhya, “Bio absorbable stent dissolves in patient’s body within one or one and a half year whereas metallic stent remains in the body for lifetime which creates risk of blood clotting.”

After bio absorbable stent, patient can also undergo bypass surgery, though bypass could not be done in other commonly use stent.
