Due to lack of awareness, on an average every year 400 heart valve repairing operations are conducted in India in comparison to 4000 heart surgeries to change the valve, which severely affects the health of every woman, child, old age man who is suffering from this disease.
The shocking statement was made by one of the country’s well known heart disease and heart valve repairing surgeon Dr. Priyankar Sinha in a programme organized by Rotary Club Mewar on 8 Oct at Hotel Vishnupriya.
He said, “It takes only 20 minutes to change the heart valve but to repair it is a process involving more than two hours.”
“The valve repairing technique is although very new in India, it is a frequently used method in other developed countries of the world. Due to lack of awareness patients in India generally opt for changing the valve and are forced to depend on medicines for rest of their life,” Dr. Sinha revealed.
Further, sharing the information, Dr. Priyankar Sinha said, “Dysfunction of valve occurs due to 5 main causes, first Rheumatic Fever which is very common is Southern Rajasthan, second is Partially Developed Heart Valve in an infant at the time of birth, third is Heart Attack which subsequently starts heart valve problems, fourth reason is of Improper Veins Functionality in body and fifth is Severe Heart Infections which also cause this problem.”
Dr. Sinha stressed on the valve repairing method and said that it is the most affirmative way to have a better life, it keeps the original body part safe and after repairing the patient needs very less or no medicines.
Following the programme a Heart Disease Chek-up and Consulting camp was organized at Vigyan Samiti, Ashok Nagar, where a special checkup of 2D Eco-Cardiogram was conducted free of cost for all heart patients.
