Patients with diabetes have received aid from the Rajasthani government. The Chiranjeevi scheme now includes an insulin pump. Insulin worth Rs. 2.5 lakh or Rs. 8 lakh will be given free to the diabetes patients.

What is an Insulin pump?

Insulin pumps help in management of blood sugar of the person with diabetes. Most of the time people find insulin pumps a more convenient option rather than insulin pen injections.

Reason for such relief

Patients with type 1 diabetes take two to four injections of insulin daily and it becomes expensive for the people who cannot afford this on a daily basis, so the expense will be deducted.

SMS hospital Jaipur's Endocrinologist Dr. Balram Sharma and Sanjay Saran, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Endocrinology, said that everyday new diabetes patients are visiting for treatment in the hospital and most of them are teenagers. Other section contains people of 35 years and above who are prone to diabetes.

Also poor diet and lack of proper intake of unhealthy food is becoming a reason for rise in diabetes among people.

What is Type-1 and Type-2 diabetes?

Diabetes is a chronic condition that develops when the body either cannot use the insulin that the pancreas makes properly or does not produce enough of it. Blood sugar is controlled by the hormone insulin. Type-1 diabetes patients face severe problems. In them Insulin stops making hormones and to prevent that the patient has to take Insulin injections.

Older persons are more likely to have type 2. However more young individuals are developing type 2 diabetes as a result of the rise of obesity among youngsters.

Free Cochlear implant replacement under Chiranjeevi scheme

Replacement of the cochlear implant has also been asked to be included in the package by CM Ashok Gehlot. Currently, the cochlear implant is free in Chiranjeevi, but before time, if the machine fails, it will be replaced.
