International Yoga day was celebrated with full enthusiasm in the city. Messages regarding importance of yoga for mental and physical health were given to people.

Yoga is an age-old method for staying fit both physically and mentally. Today celebrating International Yoga day, people gathered in Gandhi round and practiced yoga for 1 hour. The enthusiasm was such that even rains, 2 hours prior to the yoga session, did not deter the people from going ahead. In spite of the fact that all the pre-spread mats were drenched, people still performed yoga. Most of the crowd had come along with their personal mats for the program.
Among the participants were Collector Vishnu Chandra Mallik, SP Rajendra Goyal, public representatives, school students, NCC cadets and various others.
PM Narendra Modi led the yoga celebrations in Lucknow which was attended by UP Chief Minister AdityaNath Yogi at Ambedkar Sabha Sthal. In Ahmedabad, around 5 lakh people attended yoga session which began at 5:30 a.m. which was led by Baba Ramdev and BJP Chief Amit Shah. It rained everywhere this morning but then rains could not loosen the spirit of people. Basically it rained YOGA everywhere.
President Pranab Mukherjee told a gathering of enthusiastic children, youths and elderly people at Rashtrapati Bhawan, “Regular practice of yoga will not only help you have a fit body and a sound mind, but it will also take care of all disorders — mental and otherwise.”
