Multi Utility Medical Van for Alakh Nayan
State Bank of India (SBI) donated a medical van to Alakh Nayan Mandir Eye Institute today on 15th December as the part of corporate social responsibility of the bank. The van worth Rs. 12 lakhs is a 17 seater multi-utility air conditioner medical van with facilities like portable slit lamps, auto refractometer machine, cataract testing machine, tonometer, ophthalmoscope and retina scope,trail rest and trail frame.

The van worth Rs. 12 lakhs is a 17 seater multi-utility air conditioner medical van with facilities like portable slit lamps, auto refractometer machine, cataract testing machine, tonometer, ophthalmoscope and retina scope,trail rest and trail frame.
B. Shreeram, the G.M of the bank said, “This van will be used by Alakh Nayan Mandir Eye Institute to conduct eye checkup in rural areas and to bring people from remote places to Udaipur for treatment.”
SBI has been donating a portion of its profit as corporate responsibility from some years now. Earlier this year on the occasion of Teacher’s Day (5th September), the bank donated one lakh twenty thousand fans in 12000 schools of India so that students could have some relief in extreme summers.
Dr, Laxmi Jhala, Executive Trustee of Alakh Nayan Mandir Eye Institute said, “This van will speed up the process of our work. Besides operations, other treatment, spectacles and medicines related to eyes problems will be available in this van.”
Alakh Nayan Mandir Eye Institute already had three vans with the help of which they conduct around 22 eye operation camps every month. Almost five thousand operations are carried out by the institute every year out of which 70% are done free of cost for the rural people.
