Shocking fact- No Check-ups before delivery

The most shocking fact that has come up is that almost 225 females(available stats) do not undergo any kind of precautionary check-up every month before delivery. The Government Hospital,Udaipur has revealed that a huge number of females do not undergo antenatal checkups at all.

This has come as quite a shock that these females do not turn up in any hospital during the 9 month pregnancy course for any kind of check-up or tests. As per the datas, 1595 women delivered babies in the month of December out of which 223 reached only for their delivery but never ever for a check-up after conception. Similarly out of 1554 ladies, 225 did not enter any hospitals for a regular check-up in the month of January 2017.

As per the doctors, these females are not aware of the consequences and are totally oblivious of the fact that a regular check-up of a pregnant woman is very important which could prove to be fatal, too, when ignored.  The family members or the guardians of the pregnant woman take her to the hospital only in case of labour pains. These conditions become very critical for the doctors to handle at the last minute as an uncontrolled blood pressure of the patient could result in loss of her life as well as the unborn baby.

Shocking fact- No Check-ups before delivery

During pregnancy, a minimum of 4 antenatal check-ups are vital.  The first test is when pregnancy is confirmed, second check-up should be in the fourth month, third regular check-up in the 7th or 8th month as per doctor’s advice and fourth one in the 9th month.

Why are check-ups vital ?

Antenatal check-up includes sonography, blood, haemoglobin, blood pressure, urine, sugar, thyroid hormone, HIV, Hepatitis-B, etc. tests. These tests determine that the growth of the foetus is normal or not. Uncontrolled blood pressure could result in death of mother and child both during delivery. If tests are done periodically, then situations can be controlled. Similarly HIV test is also done to avoid any kind of such infection,if any, to spread in the mother and child.

As per Dr. Sunita Maheshwari of the General female ward, mother-child death rates have gone high since antenatal check-ups are not done before delivery. So to avoid any such disaster, antenatal check-ups are a must for all expectant mothers.
