Rajasthan’s biggest Nephrological Unit at MB Hospital prepared since last 4 months is facing acute absence of technical staff due to which the possibility of treating 1500 patients as against dialysis of only 360 patients per month in the present unit seems a distant dream.
For the new unit Rs. 1 Cr has been spent for civil work whereas Rs. 1.80 Cr has been spent for the resources. In January 2013, posts of 10 nursing staff, 6 lab technicians, 5 ward boys, 3 medical officers and 3 resident doctors had been approved but the matter is stuck at the health department, Jaipur due to lack of technical staff.
Dr. D.P Singh, Principal of RNT said that a letter has been written for the government in regards to some deficiency in the unit. The nursing staff at the local level will be made available.
On the other hand J.C Mohanti,Principal Secretary of Medical Education has affirmed that and MoU has been signed with Rajasthan Ajivika Mission in which Nigam will provide trained technical staff. Medical officers will also be trained. The work will commence this month.
It is to consider that in the district, there are 5 private dialysis units where around 50 patients come for treatment every day costing between Rs. 1000 to Rs. 1300 whereas, the dialysis at MB Hospital is done for free.
