As per the declaration made by the National pharmaceuticals authority, no extra charges are to be paid for the Stent since a margin of 8 percent has already been added to the fixed price. Secretary CK Mishra added that the government is keeping an eye on people declaring the shortage of stent.
Through a memorandum on the site, NPPA said that the prices of stent were fixed on 13th February by the authorities and that the charges from the producer to the importer i.e. the entire networking have been fixed at a margin of 8 percent .hence no one needs to pay any extra charge while purchasing stent. Only local tax or VAT can be applied.
If any dealer or any hospital asks for extra charges, the consumer must file a report immediately. Secretary CK Mishra has said that that strict action will be taken against dealers who say that stents are inavailable. The authorities had made a deduction of 85 percent in the rates of stent and the market price was fixed thereafter.
According to other news sources(hindu.com), shortage of stents was being reported after the prices were slashed by 85 percent, capping rates of bare metal stents at 7260/- and drug-eluting stent at 29600/-
