1000 Indian Workers Released from Kuwait Jails
The India Ambassador in Kuwait, Satish C. Mehta informed that over 1000 Indian domestic workers have been released by Kuwait authorities. These workers were part of the 2000 Expat Workers who were arrested subsequent to an illegal immigrant raid on September 19 by Kuwaiti authorities.

“Apart from those who have legal cases pending on them or those who have overstayed on their original visa, the imprisoned workers of Indian origin have been released”, Mehta informed. Referring to Kuwait Times, He also informed that “there is a possibility of 400 India workers still to be under detention, but the number is not clear yet”.
“The raid conducted on 19th Sept, was not targeted towards Indian community or the people from Rajasthan state. There were arrestees of other nationalities too”, clarified Mehta on assurance given by the Kuwait authorities.
The Indian officials are in regular contact with Kuwait authorities , though, for the release of who are left.
