Udaisagar Lake is one of the most famous lakes of Udaipur. It is the source of drinking water for the regions nearby. But the shocking part is that 13 villages are in danger because of administration’s negligence.

The dam at Udaisagar has a very narrow outlet. This results in overflow during monsoons. Many a times, there have been flood like situations because of this overflow. History says that 13 villages with a total population of 25000 suffered due to flood in 1973 and 2006. The narrow outlet is not enough for a proper flow of water and it results in flood. As per sources, administration is only working in papers but nothing has been materialised in the past 45 years. Urban legislator Phool Singh Meena took up this matter with government. In response to his letter, it was stated that repair and maintenance of the dam is overdue and proposal is in pipeline but approval for the same is awaited. If administration doesn’t take up this matter as a high priority issue, there may be situation of flood again resulting in loss of life and natural resources.
