Nobody knows where and how 15 ducklings disappeared suspiciously from Gulab Bagh Zoo in just 24 hours after they were rescued from Paneriyon ki Madri area on 7th November and were handed over to Zoo officials.
Rahul Bhatnagar, Chief Conservator Forest and Wildlife, set an enquiry to investigate the case after the incident came to light yesterday on 8th November.
According to sources, forest guard, Pushkar Menaria, resident of Paneriyon ki Madri, rescued 15 new born ducklings of a wild specie and brought them to Gulab Bagh Zoo. The officials took the ducklings and kept them in the cage where other ducks were kept. But on the next day, all ducklings disappeared and interestingly nobody knows where they have gone.
Bhatnagar told UT, “We have set an Enquiry Committee under the ACF and we will surely find out what happened to the wild ducklings.”
Gulabh Bagh Zoo is turning out to be a mortality ground than a rescue center for the wild animals. In the past also, a number of wild animals brought here for treatment had unfortunately died for whatsoever reasons.
In a past few cases, one of Leopard rescued from Nauwa Village near Mavli and other one of the Leopard rescued near Undital from poachers trap, animal died suspiciously and in the case of Leopard Sundari, officials claimed that the leopard escaped from the cage which raised many questions against the department.
